Hillary Clinton would face a decision to pay off $7.6 million in debt before accepting a post as Secretary of State. The debt is left over from her presidential bid. Legally she can accept money from her Senate campaign committee account which would pay about $6 million of the debt. She can also legally continue to raise money to pay off the debt, but it would raise ethical questions that could marr her appointment.
She is not allowed to accept money from foreign governments and nationals, but she can accept money from U.S. lobbyists for foreign governments. Obama may ask his administration to follow his lead in accepting money from government sponsor coffers, which is to not use this as a source of contributions.
